Born on a 6 a.m. call, when every salon was closed.
March 2020. Every client salon in the Academy shut its doors within days. Jason started a daily 6 a.m. call to help owners navigate it: some days a dozen owners, some days more than sixty, working through decisions nobody should make alone.
Every one of those salons reopened. And then something unexpected happened: many went on to their best profit years ever, largely because of one change made at reopening. A profitable backbar.
The idea walked in the door before that, when longtime client Celene Dupuis brought a color management tool to Jason, insisting it could help every salon in the Academy. He was skeptical. That's a big claim. So they modeled it, service by service: what the salon would make, what the stylist would make. The skepticism didn't survive the math.
The salons weren't underpricing. They were giving the product away.
Today the profitable backbar is one of the first systems the Academy rolls out with new salons, because it pays for everything else. This workshop is that rollout, taught live.
